WIP's (works in progress) become F's (finished) today! My May take it further challenge is done...the theme this month was based on what we call ourselves...artists? makers? anything at all?
I usually just go with artist and then if someone wants to know more I will add mixed media fiber artist...that either intrigues them or loses their interest entirely....oddly enough it's usually women who are interested and men who aren't (grin)...
So this little window holds a book of a few of my most recent mixed media fiber art pieces...

Very nice. You are going to have a lot of nice collections! When you tell people artist, don't they ask what you paint? It seems painters are the "real" artists out there to a lot of people.

sometimes that's the question they ask, freebird, but as I work in a gallery, we usually get folks with a bit more background and often their second question is, "what medium?"...that's usually when I hold up whatever I'm working on and say mixed media fiber...and if I'm in the mood to talk and they sound like interesting folks, I add, 'with an emphasis on beads'...and that often leads to the next most asked questions...."do you sell your work" and "it sure must take a lot of patience?"
My friend, a fabulous textile artist, says the new hip term is: Designer/Maker. Ok. That's fine with me. I also like "artisan."
