I'm thinking of adding the 5.5 inch square to the purse...still looking for something to use as a strap/hanger though...

If you add the square, what about doing a simple strap with the same fabric as the square and sew on the same multi colored yarn that you adorned the square with?

Oooooooh, I like the fiber collage on this fabric very much! I agree with Jax about the strap...
Funny, I'm wanting to make a bag too... and have the same concern about the strap. I want it to be strong because I carry a lot of stuff in my purse/bag. So I'm leary of having a stitched seam on the strap, one where the threads become the most vulnerable part of the strap. On the other hand, strapping materials look so darn manufactured and don't compliment the hand-made look of the bag. What to do... what to do?
