Class Project

Here's the sample for the class I'm teaching next week...it's a felt cel phone case...lined with fleece, embellished with felt bird, button and MOP button closure and using the blanket edge stitch. I think anyone can finish this project in 2 hours as I will be cutting the case and lining out ahead of time and threading all the needles with perle cotton thread. So they will basically be designing their own image (bird, heart, flower, etc.), sewing it down and stitching the edges. I never know how many of the students have any stitching skills, so have to figure out something that I think will work for an absolute beginner without being too boring for any experienced stitchers...tricky!
This class is for cancer survivors and their families and/or caretakers, so it's very dear to my heart.

This is a neat idea. Easy enough for the novice to feel they really accomplished something great, yet the more experienced in needlework can shake it up a little.

Of course, I love your bird.

Have a great day Bobbi. Hope you are having nice weather to enjoy.
xx, Carol

That is a good idea. The cell phone doesn't get worn looking and the pads stay clean. Plus it adds beauty to another part of life. and I am all for that. I hope all your students come away with great cell phone cases and a terrific time.

Looks like a great project! Sounds like you've given it careful thought. I did a similar class, also for cancer survivors and caretakers, and found that the most important thing seemed to be getting the needles threaded.

Sadly, the classes have been postponed until september due to lack of interest...I think it will do better in the fall anyway, as most of us keep quite busy in the summer!

Great article thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your blog

I bought this popular beading book awhile back. You can only get it online too for some reason but here's the link to this excellent beading guide if you are interested.

I am very satisfied with this bead guide and I highly recommend this complete bead Ebook to all my beading friends.

Oh, this is a great idea for your class this time! Simple, pretty, and useful. I love the bird on the front too.

Sad to hear it was postponed, but I agree with you...fall will probably be a better time. Too many are out and about enjoying the sunshine finally. Looking forward to hearing about the class when you have it. XOX
