Summer Daze
Since it looks like we're heading for some really hot days in the valley (which usually means fog for us), I thought I'd take advantage of the clear weather yesterday and spend it outside.
In the morning I drove up to yaquina head, a national park at the north end of town and did a bit of journaling, photography, beading and watching the surfers try to surf on the tiny waves, lol.
After lunch chuck and I headed down the coast 50 miles to florence...a drive that includes what I consider 25 of the most beautiful miles you can drive anywhere, from yachats to florence. Along the way are the sea lion caves and heceta head lighthouse...one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. The the dunes of florence from a view point south of the town...
Got home and had dinner outside under our willows as it was quite hot in the house by then. A little reading and then to bed...opening up the house to get ready for today, which is supposed to be even hotter...yahoo! I wouldn't want weeks of this, but a few days sure would be nice!
I sure hope the folks who are having 100+ degree days can keep cooled down!

Love the bead colors you've chosen for this month's BJP. The ocean can be so refreshing, even if the temps climb there's usually a little breeze. Stay cool!!
thanks, penny! as it turned out the fog rolled in and hasn't rolled out yet, so the high temp never arrived here.
Hi Bobbi
I always love the pictures you post of the area where you live. These pictures, honest to God, look like postcards.
xx, Carol
Well, here in L.A., I am wearing a light hoodie and I am a little chilled. As the lady at the fabric store said yesterday, this is crazy weather for us. I like the warm weather and I refuse to complain about the hot. I would like to package the hot and then in winter take it out and spread it over me.
Once again, great photos. But no lighthouse?
Sometimes it feels like it too, carol!
Pat, if you click on the middle photo, you can see the lighthouse just above the rocks on the left.
Your pictures of your coastline are gorgeous you are so lucky to live some place so beautiful.
I assume that that is the Heceta Lighthouse on your banner. duh! It took a while.
thanks, lorrie...we do feel lucky!
hi pat! no, the banner is one of our two lighthouses here in newport, yaquina head light. (the second one sits on the bluff overlooking the entrance to the harbor and has been out of commission almost since it was built...)
