What If....

I just could not think of what I wanted to do next, so I took the advice I've heard many times before - just start somewhere! I took the linen and basted it to some pellon for a firm base, then crocheted a little freeform piece in colors I just love...tried and failed to felt it but decided to sew it down anyway around a little bone lizard bead...there are both shiny and matt glass drops holding the wool down.

It may not have felted but this is certainly joyful and playful!

One of my felting experiences this past holiday season was unsuccessful, too.

Love the colors in the yarn and the lizard bead is so cool...I've never seen one! I wonder why your yarn didn't felt? Was it pure wool or merino? Maybe it had some synthetic or plant based fibers in it? Irregardless, I love it and the glass drops holding the wool down are a nice touch! ~me

I like the yarn unfelted. Everything gets felted nowadays and to see some that isn't is good. I like how the beads nestle into the spaces too since it isn't felted.

hi kathy...I think mine was a combination of too much space between the strands of yarn (because of it's variable thickness) and not enough time spent mooshing it in hot soapy water...
thank you, helene!
hi erin, thanks for the kind words...I can't wait to see what you do next with luna!
hi lisa! yep, it was 100% wool but I think I didn't do it long enough.
hi timaree! yeah, but I've only felted a couple of things, so it's all new to me right now! (but doing it by hand is really hard on my hands, so I don't think it will become a large part of my practice)
