Adieu, sweet prince...

Our teddy cat finally left us last night...he was 14 years old and quite ready to go, we think.
He was just a year old when we moved to the park 13 years ago and I knew we'd never lose another cat to traffic here. This is a blocks-long dead end and the speed limit is 10mph and mostly only the UPS guy goes faster and even then, he can only go about 15mph because of the speed bumps and the narrowness of the road...
Teddy loved it here...he had his routine and his territory and the last few years he'd even mellowed a bit on the big black cat who lives across the road...I like to think they finally achieved detente, if not friendship.
Rest in peace, sweet boy, and give chi a rub from me...

oh Bobbi - I'm so sorry. my little bubble is in my lap as I type this and I have tears in my eyes at the thought of losing her. When her big sister left us years ago, I told her she was not to leave - ever. I know she can't stay forever, but they become such a huge part of our lives. My heart really goes out to you both right now.

big hug

I am so so sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to lose a pet. Only time will ease the pain as you well know.

Ah, your post touched my heart so much, Bobbi. That Teddy cat surely knew how much you loved him. Much peace and love to you . . .

Sorry Bobbi. I wish our pets could stay with us but alas, they cannot. I have told my Maddux the same thing, he is not going until I am going! He is going to breal the record for the longest living dog ever! I am sending a huge hug to you.

thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart...I know I am not alone in losing a beloved companion and friend...
when we lost chi a couple of years ago, sumi entered our lives and 6 months later oliver...I think they both gave teddy another year of life, as he had been grieving for chi and after they arrived they kept him so busy teaching them all the things they needed to know to take proper care of his yard and territory...
I feel like teddy is with chi now...and sumi and oliver are with us to keep us from grieving too much.
What a large part of our hearts they live occupy...

Teddy was beautiful, I always am so amazed at how graceful our pets go to the next life, they just seem to know...I can't wait to see my little ones who've left me behind. One very happy day you will see him again. I really believe that.

I am in tears as I read your post for your loss and for the loss of Tippy, Toad, Lulu, Buska and Mia-Maria-Rotundus-Abumdus. Robert's been reading a book by a medium, who believes that the precious spirits of well-loved pets wait for us to join them in the spirit world after life on earth. I take a little comfort in the thought that this might be true. Meanwhile, here's a big hug from another lover of all cats... Robin A.

Oh... Bobbie, I cry for your loss and as a reminder of a precious orange cat I lost a few years ago. My heart goes out to you. It's tough to lose our furry loved ones.
