Gem Faire

I celebrated my birthday yesterday with a trip to eugene with friends...we did the gem faire and then lunch...then we visited harlequin beads and then one last run through the gem faire. It's held at the fairgrounds and is in a huge building with many vendors....the only downside from my pov, is that most of the vendors sell the larger stone and semi-precious beads and not very many do the seed beads....but I did get a lovely selection of my favorites, abalone and pearls. (and I don't really need any seed beads anyway!) I was tempted by some of the interesting chains and other metal findings, but I held to my "list" (mostly, lol) and didn't quite break the bank!
With all the lovely leaves swirling around eugene yesterday, I was inspired to buy some abalone leaves and flowers, as well as some red coral flowers...since we have hit a heat wave, even here on the coast, we still have flowers blooming and leaves on the trees, although the wind is picking up this morning, so we'll have a few less by tonight! I also found some MOP butterflies and one more clay face by Dana Swisher, a eugene artist.
I'm working at the upstairs gallery this afternoon (at our local visual arts center), so will get a few hours of beading in today...

Oh Bobbi...catching up this morning and I am so sorry to hear about Teddy. I'd like to think that he and Chi are together, pain free and happy. With each wave of sadness, I hope a happy memory will quickly follow. I know your kitties have been very lucky to have the both of you.

I am so grateful that you were able to go to Eugene and celebrate your day with friends. It sounds like you had a special time. You did well and found some beautiful finds at the gem show!

Sending you a heartfelt hug...~Lisa

thanks for all the birthday wishes! the shopping was fun but the best part was lunch with two old and dear friends (not that they're OLD, just that we've known each other for a long time!)...
hugs to you too, lisa...and yes, I'm also picturing teddy and chi together and as chuck said, they're where the mice and birdies are fat and slow!

I tried to leave comments for you but my computer kept freezing up on me so I am back today to say I am sorry your kitty died. I know it was probably his time but no time is the right time to lose someone we love.

And I also wanted to leave a belated wish for a happy birthday. I hope this year brings a lot of nice surprises your way.

Happy Birthday to you - glad you had a lovely day with friends - no better therapy for grief than friends and shopping, especially at a bead fair - how I envy you - and you came back with a lovely stash.

Wow on the red coral flowers! What a great way to spend your birthday...even considering the circumstances.
