Blues

We've been having lovely blue skies the past few days, which mean beach walks for my DH and I...I also realized the blue in the batik I've used for this month's bjp is just the color of the sky in the afternoon.
February is finished off with some blue goldstone hearts and then mounted on a matallic paper background and framed. I'm feeling very lucky this month as it's been a year since my diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in my bones....last year at this time I was in shock and wondering if I'd even be here through the summer...it took about 6 months for me to regain my equilibrium and remember (again and again) that all any of us have is today and that worrying about how long I may be around would be a big waste of whatever time I do have.
I think the image of the rabbit in this piece represents me; balanced on a gold sphere, supported by my home (the ceramic square) and everyone/thing in it, and seeing all the different paths I may take in the future.
It feels like a very peaceful, balanced piece to me.

Thank you for mentioning the symbolism of your piece. I know I was wondering and am surprised I didn't comment. Flash player is not compatible with my bit system and sometimes I have to shut down in the middle of commenting. Anyway, you are right. On my monitor the sky IS a perfect match.

Bobbi, I am glad you let us know you are doing OK. I always wonder, but thought you would tell if you wanted us to know.

Have a fab day...we are getting 15 inces of the "S" word today!.

Hand -in-hand is what I see here...
Love your piece and it means oh so much more with the "Back-story".
Courage & strength come to mind as I read your post. Too many women are struck by BC! It amazes me each time I hear of their fights AND their remissions!! AS you said, today is all any of us really has...live for today!
I wish only good , happy peaceful times for you.
Bead happy, bead often!

Blue skies in February are a rarity around here (we are in for nearly a foot of the white stuff today so I ten to think grey for february. But not that i see the photo, i can see...

This piece is stunning. And made so much more meaningful by your backstory.

So glad you are still with us and, hopefully, doing well.

Very balanced and peaceful. Thanks for the explanation of the symbolism. I hadn't realized it's been a year - that's a good thing! Here's hoping for many, many more :- )

Like Carol, I'm always cognizant of the cancer in your life... This is an opportunity for me to tell you that it's a great blessing that you are still making BJP pieces a year after your diagnosis. I admire your way of dealing with it! Also, I love this piece with the rabbit (my totem animal) poised and in balance with many choices ahead! Yay! Love, Robin A.

The piece and its symbolism are beautiful. I'm also in love with your photo of the shore. It's so serene, especially in contrast to the weather here in Maryland.

Very beautiful piece. It has a wonderful peaceful feeling. Before I read your explanation I was drawn to the ceramic square and wondered if it stood for something special. You can't get more special than a home that supports you. You're right, we really only do have today, this particular moment. Thanks for the reminder. Take care.
