BJP 2010

I have the fabric cut out and ready to go for january's bjp...the largest hand is life-size and the smallest is about 3.5 inches. I'll be beading the smallest hand and doing minimal beading on the larger ones...at least that's the plan now. As most of you know, once you actually start working on a piece, it sometimes goes off in directions you hadn't planned on, lol! That's the fun of it!

I like that middle layer for contrast between the two sizes of hands. It will be interesting to see how much beading ends up on each layer!

I like this idea, Bobbi. I have changed my size a bit to add a challenge. Been playing around with one in the new size. Almost done, so I will post it shortly.

The center fabric layer adds a nice amount of depth to the hand set. Will be fun to see where you go with the embroidery.

I still haven't decided on a size or shape ... but I guess I have a couple more days to think about it :-)

Happy New Year!
I really enjoy how you play with hands. You always keep the feeling of possibility, the movement, creativity and meaning of the hand. All the meanings that we ascribe to a hand, including peace.

thanks for your supportive comments...it's so neat to see my work through other eyes, especially when they belong to artists whose work I like so much. It's sure a pleasure for me to be able to visit and see what you all are doing too!

Hi Bobbi! I am soooooooooooo glad you are in the BJP again this year! There are quite a few of us third-timers, which should make it an interesting mix. Your hand idea is super! Will you tell how/what/if-anything you will do with the raw edges of the fabric???

Hugs, Robin A.

PS I always apppreciate your comments on other's blogs as well!

hi robin...well, I'm glad too and really looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! I'm not sure yet what I'll do with the raw edges...on my practice pieces I used interfacing so the edges don't unravel and then sewed it onto matt board and framed it, but not sure I'll continue that way...
I like visiting the blogs, although I don't get to as many as I'd like!
