Surprises!

A friend sent me a surprise box full of the most magical things and it just made me feel so warm and happy, I wanted to pass a little bit of that feeling along....so if you'll leave a comment on a time when you were surprised by an act of random kindness, I'll do a random drawing next Friday and send the winner a surprise gift.

Don't know if I mentioned that my "day job" used to be a typesetter/graphic designer working for printers, but this gift of awesome wooden type just gave me chills...and what is especially unique is that it can be both read and printed without any of the letters being backward as they usually are with type (so when they print they're readable)....to find a font that does that is just too, too cool!

Another bit of serendipity is that I had decided that one of the changes I'd make in next year's bjp is to print words on the fabric as part of the design...so you'll be seeing these letters in september's bjp!

Hi, Bobbi.
A friend of mine just got back from B&B a week ago. She brought back a small pair of scissors made especially to cut Fireline and a nifty little magnifier that fits on your finger. She didn't bring it just for me, but for all of the ladies in our little group. None of us expected anything other than a report of the show. Pretty nice little surprise, huh

Oh, what a wonderful gift! I love text in art and am looking forward to seeing what you do with these. Such a thoughtful surprise, wow.

So recently I posted on my blog about a painting that I love that shows my two spirit guides, a white stork and a red fox. These two have come to me many times and for quite a while I've been longing to have some image of them. When I found this painting online, I flipped! A reader of my blog (who also happens to be local and the girlfriend of a friend of mine) read my post and contacted the artist to see about getting a print for me. She talked the artist into it and the print arrived at my door this week. It's so, so beautiful! High quality print on watercolor paper so it looks like and original watercolor (although I think the original painting was an oil) I am thrilled, humbled, amazed. Getting it framed to hang either in my studio or office, where I spend most of my awake hours.

Thanks, Bobbi for all your nice comments on my blogs, your support is really sustaining and means the world to me.

Oh, wow! I am an absolute freak about lettering and fonts -- this is a beautiful set indeed.

My jaw-dropping moment came when an online beading friend sent me some extraordinary crystals simply because I had admired what she had done with some of them. I think I went around smiling for days afterward . . .

One time a young kid I work with bought me the last bag of Swedish Fish from the vending machine at work just cuz he knew I liked them. I thought that was so cute! :D

What a good friend indeed.
My RAK came from lj at Born under a Bead Sign...she sent me one of her bracelets, just popped in in the post and sent it across the sea to Oz. I wear it so much and it gets so many comments.

Fabulous BB! Will it be a logo, as well as a fabric print? PS - Love the colors!

hi lj! yeah, I like it as a logo but I'm still playing with it in different configurations....the color is natural (it's actually on the type) but a bit enhanced in photoshop.

Score! Obviously you *had* to have those!

The most recent RAK I can think of was when a friend of mine taught a class and gave me the sample she made for the class :- )

Hi Bobbi - this is a lovely idea. Two recent acts of kindness - both blogging friends (Jane and Cheryl) who sent me a bag of goodies, just because. I was thrilled, and whenever i unearth a piece of the gift in my stash I am thrilled again, and think how lucky I am to have such nice cyber friends.

Bobbi, when I was having a really low day or more like month, a really good friend sent me flowers. It sounds like a small thing but at the time it helped me soooooo much!
