New Beginnings

It's interesting that this years bead journal ended in august since september has always felt like the beginning of the year to me...probably because I was one of the lucky few who loved going to school and did not mourn the passing of summer.
So today is like the first day of autumn for me...even though the summer sun is still around during the day, it is beginning to get cooler at night...and I'm determined to greet each day, whether it's sunny or misty or wet, with an equal amount of gratitude.
I love the Basho quote I've put on the top of my new header...it's one of the main reasons I started the 40-part Basho series I finished last year (you can see them all on my Flickr site).

I may not be able to wander very far physically, but my spirit is the eternal traveler.

Hey, I'm the same way as September is a new year. I too loved going back to school & this month always makes me think of the whole last year. ALSO...it feels like Fall here in Ohio. It was 48 degrees this morning when I got off work. Weird weather here.

One more reason I have always held you close in my heart.

Today I was out with grandson who doesn't start school in Chicago until the 8th -- anyway, I had to get new pencils, paper, pens, colored lead for my mechanical pencils -- a ritual for this time of year. I love to take the boys school shopping and restock some of my own "treasures" too.

I agree. The year starts in September (but I spent a long time as an educator). Your new header with the quote is wonderful.

O well, I don't agree. This is the beginning of hybernation for me. I hate when summer leaves. But, to each his own and that's what makes the world go round, right!!

I love the quote and I want to visit you on flicker.

Ah, yes, I was the kid who dreaded summer vacation and thrived when the school year started, too. Still am.

Your new header is wonderful . . .

Growing up in the pacific northwest, I liked most of the seasons...got to do a lot of exploring on my bike during the summer, which doesn't seem to be available to kids today...but the new papers and pencils and books of each new school year were a major draw for me...

Love the quote, Bobbi. I love the Fall months. The colors of Fall are my favorites.

I think "the spirit as an eternal traveler" may have pleased Basho, may have been his intent. Love this post and your new header, Bobbi!
