Studio

I was lucky enough to find the Studios issue put out by Cloth Paper Scissors and am just enjoying the heck out of it! I love to see other folks' studios and work spaces and a whole magazine devoted to them just made my whole week.
So inspired was I that I redid a whole corner of my studio...the studio looks great but I do have a large pile of stuff to sort sitting in the middle of the living room....I put it there because then I HAVE TO do it right away or give up using the living room for the duration!
I restrained myself photo-wise and am just putting one before and one after photo up...see if you can figure out which is which, LOL!

Are you available for hire, Bobbi?
I sure could use help :-)
I just keep adding to my 'mess' --
Your photos are an incentive to get my studio cleaned up. May even have to check out the magazine.

I wish I could help, jackie...I'd love to do it! In fact, if I ever needed to go back to a "day job", I've decided that I'd become an organizer....I've done it all my life and I think a quick refresher course on current principles would get me up and running!
I do think you'd get a lot out of the magazine...they did several makeovers and it sounded like a relatively painless process and everyone was so happy with the results!

Hi there! Just wanted to say thanks for the clothespin guy idea! Julio is a cute lil' clothespin dude! :-)

Ouch! Looks like I might have to take some time out from beading and reorganize my "studio" space, which "used to be" our dining room, too.

Seriously, your space looks terrific!

Hi Bobbi,
Thanks for sharing photos of your studio. My first inclination was that the top photo was the "after" photo but then I looked closer and saw that the corner looks more open and cleared out in the second photo. So, is that the "after" photo?
I'm moving this month and I am setting up a studio in my new home from scratch. I'm scared and thrilled all at the same time! I'll have to look for that "Studios" issue for inspiration. Thanks for your inspiration!

you're welcome, cadi...the boys did a great job!

thanks, kathy! One thing I found amazing is that Lesley Riley has a studio that is just a part of her bedroom (from the studios mag)...that amazed me!

hi karen! yes, the second one is the after...I thought the bookshelf worked better in that corner than the lowered desk space...
ooo, I'm jealous...a studio space from scratch...sounds like great fun!

I would so love to see that magazine but I'm afraid it's one of those that would make me ill. I can't read Quilting Arts without suffering and I think they are the same folks that produced the studio mag. {sigh}

Lovely job! Is the clarity of space at all informative to your cognitive clarity? I find it is for me, so it's not uncommon for me to go on a near OCD level cleaning spree prior to any new project.

What bothers you about it, sue?

I've been disappointed in what's been happening to both Fiber Arts and Step by Step since they've been taken over by Interweave Press...they are now publishing so many different fiber/craft magazines that I think the quality has suffered a great deal....but, maybe it will just take them a while to get them all under control? I hope so!

hello dear infovorous...it's more the reverse, I think...the lack of clear space renders me artistically mute, so to speak!

Bobbi,

Is that the current Cloth, Paper, Scissors or an old one? Lord knows I could use some help organizing my craft space. Right now everything is scattered over the apt. My small BR has a table made out of a hollow core door, but it's so full of C### I can't get close to it. Used to rubberstamp and make cards. Haven't done it since I started beading some years ago. I'm one of those packrats that can't throw things away.LOL

Thanks for sharing - I love seeing other creators' studios, too, and will post a pic of mine in a minute. I love your blog and your work and visit often, usually coming away wildly enthusiastic and inspired to do more beading.

hi arline..yes, it's a brand new, one time issue on studios put out by cloth, paper, scissors folks...and it does have some great organizing ideas as well as showing some smaller studios that are well organized...worth a look, anyway!

mixpix, thanks! I'll come and check yours out!

You must be gone sorting for a bit. Later, then.

Hello again Bobbi. It's the ink or the binding glue or something in the production of the magazine that makes me ill. When I open a copy the fumes almost immediately give me a headache. Even after it's allowed to air out I have trouble. I've had to let a lot of subscriptions expire, from an assortment of publishers, due to this problem.

We've actually had some sunshine the last couple of days; have you?

hi, mary...

ah...I understand, sue...for my husband the ink isn't a problem but the ones with fragrance in the pages so him in!
Luckily, I was never much of a reader of Vogue and that sort of magazine anyway!

and yes...we're having some sun today and supposed to last through the weekend...whoopee!
