I like the shorter legs, too, it makes them seem more stable. What colour? How about turquoise?
Well, I am going to give the opposing viewpoint -- I liked your first version and I also love the unfinished wood texture close to the fabric and bead textures. But you will be the best judge, after all, on how to display these beauties.Kathy V in NM
I, too, liked the longer legs better -- but could the piece be centered on the shorter ones so a pit of post shows above and below the pieces????? Just a thought.
thanks for the wonderful feedback!the major reason I shortened the legs was I could not get the pieces to stay halfway up the dowels...they kept sliding down....so I took the easy way out and went with gravity. If anyone has any experience with this sort of thing and has suggestions of how to keep the "pages" from sliding down, please let me know!I'm rather fond of the natural wood too, so it may not end up colored.
I too like the shorter legs but I think I'd like to see them centered. I've use little rubber O-rings on some loomed pieces - only problem with them is that they are usually black. They come in tons of sizes, you just need one that you have to force over the dowel. Just a thought. Lidia
Maybe some narrow double-sided tape inside one set of the loops would work? I like the o-ring idea and I bet you could work one of those into a set of loops to hide them.Kathy V in NM
thanks! I'll give the o rings a try!
Great suggestions above - here's one more, ha !! how bout shortening the poles a bit more so they don't just stick out and above your beautiful pieces and maybe toning the natural wood a bit with a light stain : )Love & Blessings, Sandra in AZ
Hi!I love the display option! What a great idea! I like the short dowels personnally, not sure why though. Not that fond of the face beads at the top - what about some beaded beads - finials? You could whip those up!!You could try a ring of glue from a glue gun around the doweling - it might stick to the material through friction.I'd paint or stain the dowelling. Your beadwork is so elegant, and the unfinished dowelling is a little raw.As usual, your work is amazing!! You are an inspiration!!Cheers, Denise
I, too, like the new shortened version! Did the the o-ring idea work out? I also like the natural wood or a light stain idea. No matter what your heart decides, they will be lovely! ;-)
thanks for all the great suggestions!lydia, the o-rings worked perfectly and I especially like them as they aren't a permanent thing...I like the option of changing my mind down the road a ways if something I like better comes along for displaying the pages.
