Back Home and BJP Finished

I finished december's bjp at my mom's house in washington....the two bluebirds were a gift from her that I thought the piece needed as the winter solstice is when we start moving toward summer, just as the summer solstice is when we begin to move toward winter...or maybe that's just me...

It's a lovely piece. I loved the butterflies and bluebirds. While I'm buried in snow here in Pullman, there's hope. Lovely. (And my quilting side craves that fabric...)

That's the thing about halfway points. It's a good thing to bring out on your page.

I'd say you have a healthier perspective on the solstices than I do. My Dec. BJP is also inspired by the winter solstice but it was made to help me get through the days of darkness... I need to adopt your outlook!

On this cold, snowy, night your blue birds are a welcome sight -- as is your December BJP. Beautiful!

I see that there are many possible interpretations for your December piece. I related to the darkness of it, the face with no eyes, blowing a stream of something (wind, maybe.. but with love/life in it); the other face dark, looking a little perplexed. The butterflies connecting the two faces... One bluebird inside looking out and one outside looking in. Is this a contempletive time of year for you? For me it's a time of mixed feelings... your piece touches that awareness in me. Thanks!

Yes...I do love this time of year for contemplation but I also find some of the longer runs of rainy, misty, grey days a bit of a challenge for my mood. I try to flip it over and create an especially cosy feeling inside the house and usually that works. This year I added a string of tiny white lites to our ficus tree and that keeps another dark corner brightly lit for the winter...
