Back Home

We're home and I've got about 8 hours of work done on the August page (doing the beadwork kept me relatively calm) ...thank you for all the hugs and blessings...they were appreciated!

So it looks like you used the original choice for the face but something other than the flower disk. Is that another piece of abalone? This looks like a warrior princess sort of entity to me.

Hope recovery from the surgery goes well - for BOTH of you!

What a welcome post yours was tonight (I was gone all day). So happy to see you are home and all is going well. Continued thoughts and prayers.

LOVE your August page -- and the beading is wonderful -- I just love it when I come to your blog and find new eye candy.

Hugz,
Jackie

Love your beading for your August page so far! She looks like a wise Queen. The material color and pattern is gorgeous, too. Healing thoughts, Karen

yes, sue...the disk is the back side of a small piece of abalone...I love the irregularity of the backs of some of them. And thanks for the kind thoughts!

hugz back to you, jackie!

thanks, lb!

and karen too!

While chuck works on healing, I'll be working on beading, which has always been a form of meditation and healing for me...

She looks like some of the bejeweled goddesses that I saw in India. Beautiful.

I hope she is a goddess of healing.

What a powerful piece. The fabric behind looks like fire in a way, and she is rising from the fire. Reminds me of how your life has been tested and you are living above your circumstances. May this remind you of the hope that you impart to those around you.
Abalone is an amazing shell. On the outside of the shell it is all knobby. It isn't till you polish this off that you get these amazing iridescent colors. Reminds me that sometimes our life has to be polished to reflect the light we have been given.
I talked to diver who collected and polished abalone. He told me that it was very toxic. You have to where not only a breathing mask but also have protection for your hands and arms so the dust does not get on your skin.

I often wonder what I'd do without beading? How would I fill the time when worry wants to nip at my heels and be let in? Beading is very meditative.
