Almost Done

I've been working on this piece for months...years really, if you count how long it took me to collect all the vintage pieces in it. The pin/pendant to one side was supposed to hang from the bottom of the necklace, but it doesn't seem to work, so it may turn out to be two pieces instead of a single large one...oh well, that's how it goes...you plan, but the piece does what it wants to in the end...

BB,
Nice stuff....are those centers bakelite? or glass? Are all the pieces old or some mixed with new. Inquiring minds you know. Having just gotten out of the vintage costume jewelry biz I have seen tons of old findings and brass stampings...love them all.

The old stuff is sooo cool and of course you just don't see yourself coming and going when you use it. When I looked at the first pic and you said the two pieces went together..I immediately saw swagged chains in my mind's eye as that would be how the "oldsters" did it with two nice feature pieces like that.

I like it, and ol' Harvest Moon is darling too.

thanks!

hi, dm...the centers are old lucite faux tortoishell buttons with small metal centers...most of the larger components are vintage, the seed beads are both vintage and contemporary...

This is beautiful! Warm and textured and I love the bugles. Where did you get those awesome leaves? I'm loving those too! What did you use for the backing? Lacy's Stiff Stuff? I love amber and brown and the fall colours.

hi, denise!
got the leaves from a local vintage bead seller...if you're ever on the central oregon coast let me know and I'll give you his address...

I beaded it on cotton batik with a lightweight iron on pellon and then backed the piece with ultrasuede...that makes the back very soft and sensual to wear against the skin...
