Shaped Beadwork

The shapes are from diane fitzgerald's new book...the bracelet and earrings are my design. I have a couple of galleries to show them to but if they're both overstocked on jewelry, I'll put them in my Etsy shop.

The colors remind me of the Beady-eyed Woman team! Cool!

Very lovely. I like the changes in shape but keeping the spirit of the piece.

I'm curious, Bobbi -- are you using Diane's method of double-thread for these projects, replete with waxing and singing the thread ends?

thanks, pat!
no, kathy...I use D Nymo, single thread, no thread conditioner, no singeing the thread ends...I weave my end thread back into the piece when I'm done. But maybe diane's way is easier to teach? Not sure why she makes it what I'd consider unnecessarily difficult?

Oh, thanks, Bobbi! That has been the only thing holding me up from trying out some of the neat things in her book.

I didn't think it was necessary to double-thread either. Good old Nymo D is my thread of choice any day . . .

The bracelet and earrings are beautiful, Bobbi. I really like the different shapes in the bracelet. Fun colors too!

I couldn't help but smile over Kathy's comment. I finally used my coupon at JoAnn's and bought it. It is a *gorgeous* book, love everything in it and her instructions are very clear and seem easy to follow...even for me! I have read it through a few times and doubling the thread and singing the ends seemed excessive to me too. Double thread, beading and I don't get along. Much easier to drop the needle off if I goof and rethread it. However, unlike Kathy, it's not what has stopped me from trying some of the shapes. It's everything else going on and other obligations that need to get done first. I don't have many Delicas in my stash either. I love the north star and the moroccan pieces too, but will never get there until I learn to do the simple shapes first. Thank you for sharing about the single thread, no wax and no singing...seems much more simple to me too.

I am so happy to see that you are having fun and stitching some jewelry again. Your pieces are always lovely! XOXO ~me
