The Good News...

Well, the good news is that I actually made something this week...a box (with feet!) and a book, actually, at a class at our yearly paper arts festival. The instructor, Pat Grass is wonderful, very calm and easy to follow and her kits are awesome....only her extremely excellent kits make it possible to make both a book and a box in a little less than 6 hours....that was a good thing, because at about the five hour mark my back started hurting and I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish the box in class, but I did! I still have some work to do on the book, so I won't show it yet.
And I couldn't resist these two photos of sumi and oliver...very typical poses for both of them as ollie is a little contortionist and sumi can be very serious while she's trying to establish herself as the top cat in the house...

I love the box! I've been thinking about taking an online class on making boxes. You've inspired me! Your cats are beautiful - one of mine does that same funny stretching pose!

Your Oliver looks like my Chester. And Chester like to loll like that as well.
Your box is very lovely. I am interested in the book. Did she supply the paper or did you bring you own. (I am assuming that the construction is hard cardboard and paper covers the cardboard).

hi robin...it was sure fun to make..

thanks, pat...she supplied a great kit with an instruction book, mat board and the paper to cover it with and the glues and even clothespins to hold some of the pieces together while they dried!
Her website is green heron books and I know she sells some kits, but not sure if this is one of them.

Sumi is elegantly pretty. It's hard to tell where Oliver's body parts begin and end!

happy to hear you were at the most wonderful NPAF! ya'll would not be a huge part of my life if not for that festival. maybe I'll make time for it next year - the box looks wonderful, now I'm itching to dig into my paper stash...

I love to see pics of everyone's pets. I guess I ought to post some of my own. I know one blog where she puts a photo of her dog in every post. It's fun to see what the dog is up to - and the woman too of course.

Neat box. Yes, I can see where working on a project for so long could get to your back but it's a very pretty box. Can't wait to see the book.

Oh, I adore the box...it turned out fantastic and what a beautiful piece to stash things in. I like the paper and the feet. Can't wait to see the book. I'm glad you were able to finish the project. Six hours is a long time to sit or stand! ~wink~

Sumi and Oliver are *SO* cute!!! Sumi has beautiful markings and Oliver has a gorgeous black coat. Love both their poses...what love bugs! XO ~me

P.S. GOD, that picture of the fruit tree and *stunning* blue sky just turns my crank...it's breathtaking...love the hole the branches make too!!!
