Scan Results

Just wanted to let everyone know that the results of my scans show that my breast cancer has metastasized to my bones. As soon as he got the results, my oncologist put me on medication to block the hormone receptors since my cancer is hormone positive, which means it "feeds" on hormones. Hopefully, the medication will keep the hormones from getting to the cancer and keep the tumors from growing. Right now we're both cautiously hopeful that the medication will be effective and I'll be around for a few more years anyway. I'm also keeping in mind that there are many fine researchers working on new cancer therapies and there may be something even more effective just around the corner. In short, I'm staying positive and hopeful and as long as I have the love of my family and friends and the support of my wonderful medical team, I'll stay that way.

Started working on my march bjp and I'm thinking there might be some herringbone flowers...haven't done off loom work in a while, but the new issue of B&B is tempting me!

I am so sorry about your scan results.

I am the daughter of a breast cancer survivor and a cancer survivor myself.

There are lots of reasons to be hopeful; the president just lifted restriction of federal funding for stem cell research--one of the key areas of cancer research and treatment that got stymied when Bush cut funding.

Hang in there; I know you are surrounded by wonderful people.

And better more effective treatments are not far off, as you write in this post, too.

Sending lots of light and love your way,
skyewriter

I'm so glad to hear that they can give you something to stop the hormones from feeding the cancer - it's amazing what the medical community is capable of these days!
I'm looking forward to seeing your beaded flowers - herringbone is one of my favourite off-looming weaving techniques!
I'm toasting your medical team and your amazing positive attitude!
Cheers, Denise

Trying to focus on the good news - your wonderful medical team, Obama's lifting of stem cell ban, current progress in cancer treatment research, the fact that it was caught apparently before it was untreatable and more than anything else, your hopeful and positive approach... as in... on to herringbone flowers and cancer get out of the way. Thank you for telling us, Bobbi... you have a whole world of prayers surrounding you now.

Well, forgive me, but OH Crap! I'm glad you feel you have a wonderful medical team; your faith in them will go a long way. I'll add my faith and prayers to those of all the rest of your friends and maybe this will turn out to be just a blip on the screen of your life. Onward! There's beading to be done, gosh darn it!
