Early Valentine Piece

I started a basket yesterday, but the tension required was still a bit much, so this morning I thought I'd do a quick valentine piece....took all day, but it's all done!

Really cute valentine broach.

How are you coming with your blog template?

I LOVE those little black flower beads you used. Are they vintage??

thanks, bg!

hi, janet...got the pic up but haven't figured out how to change the title text to black and leave the body text white (since my background is black but my photo is light colored)...it's still on my list but on the back burner while friends are visiting and I need to get a few baskets made too!

hi, lb...they aren't beads, they are sequins and I think they are vintage but wouldn't swear to it, as I got them a long time ago!

Hi,
You do beautiful work. Have you ever thought of incorporating macrame'?
Just a passing thought with a passing visit.

I would call this "My dubious valentine." The little face looking out is so questioning. And I love the little black flowers, too.

hi, g...yes, I have, but right now my hands aren't up to it...it is on my list of future experiments though. I did a lot of macrame in the 70's, but large wall pieces...so small jewelry pieces might be fun.

thanks, lj...yes, that whimsical quality of the face is what I especially like about it!

Ooooooh!!!!! Fabulous shape, face, edging, colors! Yummmmmmm.

I think the sequins are vintage French. I'm researching my supplier from years ago, and will send you contact info if I can find it.

Wear your heart with pride!

I'd love to know if they are, robin...thanks!

The pin is going to a gallery so with any luck it will find a good home..;)

bb. It took you a day......a DAY !
All this delicate complicated work, only took a day?!!!!!

It is gorgeous. I hope the person who buys it pays you a great deal of cash!

well, bless you, hhb!

sometime when I remember how quickly I could do a drawing or watercolor, I feel like I'm working at the speed of sloths doing beadwork...

and then I remember it wasn't really a choice...it was more like a road I just had to go down and I shut up and bead!
