Shirakawa and Sukagawa


Post 10, Shirakawa is done and I'm picking out the fabric and beads for 11,
Sukagawa, this afternoon...

What does the symbol mean?

Went back and read that section of the book -- you have depicted it admirably--especially the white flowers along side the road. Love it -- are the two "pillars" representative of the gate?

I hope so, lj! I have no idea what it says....the symbol (MOP on black lacquered wood blank) was a present from a friend who deals in vintage jewelry...there were 2 or 3 square ones and a round one (that one ended up on the first basho piece)....

hi, bg...thanks...and yes...the pillars (old vintage tubes incised with lines) represent the gate....

one of the hardest things to figure out when doing one of the pieces is to decide what to keep in, what to leave out, and what embellishment or bead can represent what element mentioned in the journal!

I feel I'm learning and growing with each one I finish...
